Toronto Star Investigative Report: Is your property tax fair?

The Toronto Star’s findings related to MPAC assessments, as reported on July 8, 2023, paint an inaccurate picture of property valuations in the City of Toronto. We have significant concerns about the methodology the Star used to draw the published conclusions. An independent review by MPAC’s Quality Service Commissioner found no evidence of vertical inequity in MPAC’s 2016 residential values. Other experts share this view.
